This policy covers how the official cloud edition of Parley handles accounts, recordings, transcripts, and AI usage data. The open-source desktop edition can run entirely on your own machine and your own third-party providers, with no cloud service enabled at all.
Last updated:
The short version: Parley captures microphone audio only after you press record. Audio and transcripts sync to your Parley account so you can reach them from your other devices. You can permanently delete your account and all of its data from inside the app, or without installing the app at all.
What we collect
Account data
Name, email address, sign-in method, and sessions — used to create and protect your account.
Meeting content
Audio you chose to record, along with its transcript, title, summaries, folders, and organization membership.
Service usage
Transcription seconds and AI credit consumption, used to apply your plan's allowance and prevent abuse.
Technical data
Basic request, error, and device/browser information needed to keep the service running and secure. Every request carries the app's platform and version (for example iOS 1.24), so we can tell which release a problem comes from.
Crash reports
Where the mobile app crashed or froze, and which version it was, as the operating system records it. Sent automatically by default; you can turn this off in Settings.
Problem reports
Sent only when you tap to report: what you wrote, a screenshot if you chose to keep it, and the diagnostics the app attaches.
How we use it
To provide live transcription, your recording library, cross-device sync, and the personal or organization folders you choose.
To send audio to a transcription service on your behalf, and to a model provider when you use AI features.
To keep accounts secure, meter allowances, and diagnose service failures.
To find and fix crashes, failed transcriptions, failed syncs, and the problems you report.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your meeting content for advertising.
Storage and third parties
The official cloud edition uses Cloudflare D1 and R2 to store account data, recording metadata, and audio objects transferred over encrypted connections. Live transcription uses Soniox; the official AI features use Groq. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider handles your sign-in data under its own policy. These providers process data only to deliver the Parley service.
Crash reports and problem reports
By default, Parley's mobile apps (iOS and Android) send us a crash report the next time you open the app after it crashed or froze. The report contains only the app version, the operating system version, the device model, and where in the app's code the crash happened. You can turn this off in Settings → Feedback & diagnostics → Send crash reports automatically; once it is off, the app asks you before sending each one.
Apart from crash reports, the app sends a report only when you tap a button such as "Send diagnostics" or "Report a problem". A report contains what you chose to write or pick, the ID and numbers such as the length of the recording it is about, the app and operating system versions, the device model, language and time zone, the audio input in use, whether microphone access is granted, the state of the sync queue, recent error codes, and a short, filtered app log with email addresses and sign-in credentials removed. When you take a screenshot, the app may offer at the bottom of the screen to report it; the screenshot is sent only if you open the report and leave it attached, and it is a picture the app draws of its own screen — your photo library is never read.
Crash reports and problem reports never contain your audio recordings, transcript text, or anything you type with the Parley keyboard. A report sent while you are signed in is linked to your account, so we can look at it alongside the recording it is about; you can also send one without signing in. We use them only to find and fix problems, never for advertising or tracking. To have reports you sent deleted, email the address below.
Analytics on this website
This website (parley.tw) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and collects no personal data; we see only aggregate page-view counts. It runs on parley.tw only and is separate from the Parley apps, which contain no usage telemetry and send only what "Crash reports and problem reports" above describes.
Retention and deletion
Your account data and personal recordings are kept until you delete them. Deleting your account permanently removes the account, the audio and transcripts of your personal recordings, your folders, and your usage data — and it cannot be undone. On iOS: Settings → Account → Delete account. On Android: the Account sheet → Delete account. If you cannot open the app, follow the account deletion page to request it by email from your registered address. If you own a shared organization, you must transfer or delete that organization first, so other members' shared recordings are not destroyed by accident.
A finished recording that fails to sync is held in your device's app support storage until it uploads, then removed automatically. Deleting the app clears any such pending data from that device.
Your responsibilities and choices
Obtain consent from everyone present before recording, as the law where you are requires. Parley's mobile apps do not capture phone calls or the system audio of other apps; they use the microphone only while you have explicitly started a recording.
